Foot Locker called me last Friday and asked me to do a job I couldn’t say no to. Working on a 4 day deadline is something I typically don’t do due to my current workload but when you get the tap to work on a project for an Aussie NBA Champion and have the chance to present it to him in person, well, then you definitely don’t say no. Patty Mills and Aron Baynes are currently down in Australia travelling with the Larry O’Brien trophy and today marked the kick off of their formal commitments. After chatting with the crew at Foot Locker we went with an Air Force 1 Low and chose the themes Spurs, Championship and Foot Locker as the core elements for the design.
When working on a corporate pair like this it’s very important to avoid any potential copyright infringement so we could not use any Spurs or NBA logos. What I decided to do instead was go with a Spurs colorway with gold hits on the swoosh and the Larry O’Brien trophy and finally include the famous Foot Locker stripes on the heel. All the numbers, text and logos were hand illustrated after first being sketched onto the shoe, there wasn’t any time for stencils. I am happy with how they came out but more than anything seeing Pattys excitement at receiving the shoes made the whole job and event awesome for me. I pinched the above photos from the Foot Locker Australia Facebook Group and I am wearing a BBOT Defense System Jumper, I had a few people ask me where I got it on the day. Below are my usual press shots for the shoes, thanks guys!
